Financial Benefits:
The Commonwealth Professional Fellowship 2025 is a fully funded opportunity for mid-career professionals. This fellowship covers all expenses for selected participants. Details are provided below:
- The Chevening Scholarship will cover the cost of round-trip airfare tickets from the candidate's home country to the United Kingdom.
- A monthly stipend (living allowance) will be provided for the duration of the award. The stipend amount is £2,057 per month, or £2,523 per month for those at organizations in the London metropolitan area. In exceptional cases, a peripatetic living allowance may be payable depending on the program arranged. More details regarding this will be provided at the time of selection, if applicable.
- If a Fellow declares a disability, a comprehensive assessment of their needs and eligibility for additional financial support will be conducted by the Chevening Scholarship Committee (CSC).
- An arrival allowance of up to £1156.60 (at current rates) will be provided, which includes funds for purchasing warm clothing.
- The standard visa application fee will be reimbursed.
- A flat rate contribution of £1000 will be provided to cover the costs associated with the Host organization's administrative and support activities for the Fellow. This includes setting up appropriate meetings, providing any required materials, and covering incidental travel expenses for the Fellow during the award. This payment will be made to the Host organization upon receipt of an invoice.
- Fees can be agreed upon for costs associated with Fellows attending short courses or conferences, as well as travel to visit other UK organizations when this forms an integral part of the program.
- A maximum of £2,000 can be agreed for awards lasting less than two months, and up to £3,000 for awards lasting three months. These payments will be made to the Host organization upon receipt of an invoice.

Eligibility Requirements:
Fellowship applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
- Applicants must be a national of one of the eligible Commonwealth countries, have been granted refugee status, or be a British Protected Person.
- Applicants must be a permanent national of that eligible country.
- Applicants must have five years of full-time experience, or the equivalent in part-time experience, in a profession related to the fellowship subject. Note that voluntary work experience will not be considered.
- Applicants must be employed at the time of application and intend to return to their employment upon completion of the fellowship.
- Applicants must not have been selected for this Fellowship in the previous five years.
- Applicants must not be currently enrolled in any coursework or research work in the UK. Academics are eligible to apply for the scheme, but only to undertake programs of academic management, not research or courses relevant to their research subject.
- Applicants must be available to begin their fellowship on the prescribed start date.

Applying for a Commonwealth Professional Fellowship
To be considered eligible, your application must include at least two references. One of these references must be from your current employer.
Following the application and reference deadline, your application will be forwarded to the Host organization for which you applied. The Host organization will then review your application and submit a list of shortlisted candidates to the Commission. The Commission will subsequently select the final candidates for the fellowship.
