Eligibility Requirements:
To apply for the Central South University Scholarship in China, applicants must meet the following criteria when submitting their online application:
- Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, with no criminal records and in good health.
- For Bachelor's degree programs, applicants must have a high school degree or its equivalent and be between 18 and 25 years old. For Master's degree programs, applicants must have a bachelor's degree or its equivalent and be between 18 and 35 years old. For Doctor's degree programs, applicants must have a master's degree or its equivalent and be between 18 and 40 years old.
- Language Proficiency: Students applying for Chinese-taught programs must achieve a minimum score of 260 in HSK4 for non-medical programs and 200 for medical programs. Students applying for English-taught programs must achieve a minimum score of 6 in IELTS or 85 in TOEFL. Students who do not meet the Chinese language proficiency requirements must complete a one-year preparatory Chinese language course and pass all relevant exams before commencing their program. Students who meet any of the following conditions are exempt from demonstrating their language proficiency:
- Applicants for postgraduate programs must have a strong academic background and demonstrate innovative research capabilities.
- Certain programs have specific admission requirements. Applicants must meet these requirements before applying. For detailed information, please refer to the 2024 Program Catalog.
Required Documents:
- A printed Application form downloaded from the CSU China International Student Service System, signed by the applicant.
- A photocopy of the passport (valid for at least one year).
- A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Check. Applicants must undergo a physical examination according to the requirements of the Foreigners Physical Examination Sheet. Incomplete forms are invalid. The examination must be conducted after October 1, 2023.
- A photocopy of the highest graduation certificate (or a notarized photocopy). If the applicant is currently a student, a pre-graduation certificate issued by the school is required.
- Transcript of the highest diploma (or a notarized photocopy).
- Non-criminal record with an official stamp. The issuance date must be after October 1, 2023.
- HSK4 transcript for Chinese-taught programs and IELTS/TOEFL for English-taught programs, or other documents demonstrating linguistic competence.
- A photocopy of a remittance bill for the application fee of RMB 500 or USD 90.
- A personal statement confirming that the student does not receive financial support from any other institutions.
- Two different letters of recommendation from professors/ associate professors with detailed contact information (issued after October 1, 2023, only for masters and doctorate programs).
- A study plan of at least 800 words (explaining research background, method, content, significance, etc., only for masters and doctorate programs).
- An acceptance letter from CSU professors (only for masters and doctorate programs).
- Published essays or any other supporting materials.
